Loggers snap losing streak at Butte Central Catholic
A Libby Loggers rally carried them to a 37-30 road win over Butte Central Catholic, snapping a three-game losing streak.
According to the Daily Inter Lake, junior quarterback Tristan Andersen threw for two touchdowns and ran for one as the Loggers scored the last 18 points of the game in Western A football Friday.
Andersen’s 20-yard TD run on third-and-goal put the Loggers up 31-30 in the fourth quarter and Tristan DeShazer tacked on his second scoring run with 2:10 left in the game to set the final score.
The Maroons drove to Libby’s 41-yard line but then sacks and an unsportsmanlike conduct flag stalled the drive.
The Loggers (2-4) got on the board first with a blocked punt that Drake Wofford scooped and scored on. Danny Waletzki added a field goal for Libby for a 10-0 lead, but Butte Central (3-3) scored the game’s next 18 points.
But Joel Goodman caught a 27-yard TD pass from Andersen and Aidan Rose caught the conversion pass from Andersen to make it 18-18 at halftime.
DeShazer’s first TD run, from three yards, made it 24-18.
After the Maroons took a 30-24 lead, Libby’s rally began with an 18-yard TD pass from Andersen to Ryan Beagle.
The Loggers host Columbia Falls for Homecoming at 7 p.m. Friday.
The Wildcats are 3-2. They didn’t play last week. Their most recent game was Sept. 27 when they won at Polson, 27-0.
