County commissioner candidate announces exit from race
Editor,
It is with deep regret that I am announcing my immediate withdrawal from the Lincoln County Commissioners race.
Recent medical tests have revealed that, in addition to the polio induced nerve damage in my legs, I also have a high level of stenosis in my spine. This dislodges the vertebrae and compresses my spinal cord.
It is likely that I will be having corrective surgery soon. I have had similar surgery three times in the past. Recovery takes time and prevents me from driving.
Due to this, I would be unable to effectively carry out the responsibilities of commissioner if elected. I feel it would be highly unethical of me to continue my candidacy.
My thanks go out to all who have supported me. You have taught me a great deal and helped to make me a better man. I also want to thank my opponents. I appreciate that we were able to keep the campaign issue and policy focused and did not devolve to the name calling level that seems to absorb many national level campaigns.
Brian Phillips and Noel Duram have both brought forward points that I find myself in agreement with. I find myself most in agreement with Mr. Phillips and feel that he is the best choice to move Lincoln County forward.
Mr. Phillips will have my vote. I encourage my supporters to also vote for him.
Respectfully,
Doug Davies
