County commissioner candidate forum Thursday in Libby

The Libby VFW Post 1548 is hosting a candidate forum for the three men running for Lincoln County commissioner at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The candidates include Independent Brian Phillips, Democrat Doug Davies and Republican Noel Duram.

Oct. 1 property rebate deadline approaching

HELENA – Qualified Montana taxpayers have until Tuesday, Oct. 1 to file a claim for the 2023 property tax rebate.

The fastest way for taxpayers to claim the rebate is online at getmyrebate.mt.gov. Mailing a paper application form will add processing time.

This year’s rebate claim application process has been streamlined, making it easier and faster for Montanans to apply for and receive the 2023 property tax rebate. Rebates are being issued via paper check.

Most electronically filed rebates are issued within 30 days of filing, while paper-filed rebates may take up to 60 days to process.

Libby Park District meets tonight

The Libby Park District will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Lincoln County Commissioners office inside the courthouse.

The election of officers, including chair, vice chair, treasurer and secretary will be held and the annual budget will be approved.

District members will review applications for the park manager and give final approval of a memorandum of understanding between the park district, county and Port Authority.

The district will also submit the Sept. 16 financial report.

The board includes Jim Germany, Marc McCully, Tony Petrusha, Ben Scott, Pat Engberg and Patty Johnson.

Libby Library book sale

The Libby Friends of the Library will have a book sale Friday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the book sale room downstairs at the Library. 

Featured books will help you get ready for fall and Halloween, plus we have re-stocked our fiction and non-fiction sections for all ages due to some generous donations.

Purchase of items is by donation, with all money received going to support programs for our Library.
