Max P. Smith

Max P. Smith was born June 2, 1929, and went home to be with the Lord on May 15, 2024, at age 94, surrounded by his wife, Candice, and loved ones. 

Max was born in Fish Haven, Idaho to Parley Hill and Mary Smith. Max married Betty Jenkins and welcomed a son, Jesse. After Betty’s death, Max remarried Jackie Miller and was blessed with sons, Rick and Aaron and stepson, Ken. 

After Jackie’s passing, Max married Candice Brogdon in 1977 and they welcomed their son, Jason.

He worked at Latham Lumber before moving to Libby, Montana in 1992.

Max enjoyed his church family at Libby Baptist, playing golf, Bible studies, family, friends and sharing a big smile and a wink. Max loved children and was deeply loved by those who were blessed to know him.

Max is preceded in death by his parents, Parley Hill Smith and Mary Quayle; stepfather, Jesse Quayle; wives, Betty Smith and Jackie Smith; and grandson, Kris Capo-Smith. 

He is survived by wife Candice of 46 years; sons, Jesse, Rick (Sue), Aaron, Jason, Ken (Chris); sister, Pamela Quayle; as well as six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Sharon Beller (Larry); seven nieces, and one great niece.

In honor of his memory, a celebration of Max’s life will be held at a later date when family and friends can gather to honor his life.
