Long-time KLCB and KTNY local broadcaster Duane Williams was inducted into the Montana Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame this month recognizing his commitment and dedication to Montana broadcasting and the Libby community.

Williams began his broadcast career as an announcer on a 500-watt daytimer in 1967. In the early 1970s he worked with KARR-KOPR, and later, KMON-KNUW, in Great Falls.

In 1977 he moved to Libby and KLCB and built KTNY in 1986. Duane is former Chairman of the Board of the Montana Broadcasters Association, former President of the Libby Rotary Club, former board member of the Libby Chamber of Commerce, and portrayed the King of Nordicfest for several years.

It has been Duane's consistent and persistent commitment and leadership that has made KLCB and KTNY a success in this small, rural corner of Montana, through the tumultuous economic challenges, by successfully blending syndication and local programming, reducing overall operating cost, while retaining local features.

KLCB innovation includes being the first station in the state to carry girl's basketball. His induction reflects his intense selfless service to the community and strong desire to live his dream of station ownership.

Duane has always maintained that public service to the Libby area is a key responsibility of the stations. He has willingly given his time and voice to numerous community organizations and events.

Duane is a Lincoln Memorial University graduate and a United States Air Force veteran.
