The Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness is hosting their annual State of the Scotchmans on Saturday, June 29 at the historic Blue C Ranch in Heron, Montana.

All are welcome from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at this venue with a view for live music, food, an update on the Scotchman Peaks, volunteer awards, yard games, raffles, good company and live speakers.

This year’s “Bear Aware” themed event is shaping up to be one of our best yet.

An update on our work towards Wilderness designation through the legislative process will be given by FSPW Executive Director, Phil Hough.

Among the other speakers attending, we’ll hear from Wayne Kasworm – grizzly bear recovery program with the US Fish & Wildlife Service, Michael Tovey – wildlife biologist from Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, Rob Morris – grizzly bear education specialist with Idaho Department of Fish & Game, and Austin Terrell – from the Idaho Department of Species Conservation.

There will also be an opportunity for participants to practice bear spray on a remote control bear that can go up to 20 mph.

Some of the group's dedicated volunteers will be recognized at this event.

Live music will be performed by Bryan Lloyd, an excellent performer with the ability to play anything.

Some of our raffle prizes include a scenic flight over the Scotchmans in a bush plane, bear safety bundles and more!

Everyone is welcome to join us for this fun event at Blue C Ranch, located at 127 Highway 200, Heron, Montana.
