Elementary school lunch running club piles up the miles
Libby Elementary School students in fourth through sixth grades recently had the opportunity to track their mileage in a group called Lunch Running Club.
Dr. Brittany Katzer and a small group of sixth grade students organized the group and kicked it off at the start of fourth quarter.
"This was created as a way to provide structured play, get students moving, teach healthy habits and set them up for academic success," Katzer said in an email to The Western News. "The club was very popular and had over 100 participating students!'
These students enjoyed earning special charms for each mile they completed. In total, more than 400 miles were completed.
As individual competitors, Kinsley Rehl completed the most miles with 25 miles, while Zuri Bassett and Swayze Cooper each completed 20 miles. Brielle Holzer, Braxton Graves, Natalia Baker and Ellory Anderson completed 10 miles.
