| July 30, 2024 7:00 AM

John Everett Carlock, 70, of Libby, Montana, passed away July 14, 2024 at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washingtoin, from acute myeloid leukemia. After fighting a long battle John was called into the arms of Jesus.

John was born Aug. 2, 1953, in Morgantown, West Virginia. He moved to Libby with his family around the age of five.

John married Tina (Jones) Carlock in 1981. They met and married in Libby where they raised their two children. John was lovingly known to his grandchildren as “Grandpa Bear.”

John went to work at St. Regis Lumber Company immediately after graduation. John worked in the sawmill through St. Regis, Champion and Stimson. John fondly recalled his mill days as the glory days. After the mill closure John worked several years with the City of Libby in the maintenance department.

John loved the Lord, he loved his family and he loved his dogs. John had the gift for gab and would talk to anyone anywhere (sometimes for hours). John’s favorite things were spending time with his family, camping, his 1968 Ford Mustang, wood-working, boating, fishing and hiking.

John was preceded in death by his mother Velva and step-father Paul Schikora; brothers Larry Moore and Charles Moore; and sisters Mary Phillips, Kathy Comer and Belinda Peterson.

John is survived by his loving wife Tina of 43 years; son Anthony (Alisha) Carlock of Spirit Lake, Idaho; daughter LeeAnne (Chris) Thompson of Libby, Montana; granddaughter Jayce Thompson of Libby, Montana; granddaughters Abby Carlock and Emmy Carlock of Spirit Lake, Idaho; grandson Ian Carlock of Spirit Lake, Idaho; sister Linda Perkins of Columbia Falls, Montana; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

While he may be gone from our daily lives, he will never be far from our thoughts and memories. Through wisdom known only to God, we were privileged to know him and to have him in our lives.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at Libby Christian Church, located at 100 Kootenai River Road, Libby, Montana.
