Construction company owner accused of fraud pleads guilty

The owner of a Butte construction company who faced multiple felony charges for defrauding a local business during the construction of the new Town Pump in Troy has pleaded guilty.

Joseph Anthony Tobiness, 52, was accused of four counts of forgery exceeding $5,000. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on April 15 before agreeing to plead guilty to two counts of forgery July 15 in Lincoln County District Court. Two counts were dismissed.

Tobiness is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 27.
