The rough sledding continued for the Libby Loggers American Legion baseball team this week with three losses.

According to reporting by the Daily Inter Lake, the Loggers dropped a doubleheader to the Missoula Mavericks, 5-3 and 19-7, Sunday.

Libby's Cy WIlliams picked up three hits on the day, including a run-scoring single in the first inning. Tanner Wolfe's RBI ground out made it 2-0.

Missoula took a 4-3 lead in the sixth on a Gabe Gibbs single. The Mavericks added one more run in the seventh to secure the win.

Aidan Rose tossed a complete game for the Loggers.

In the second game, Libby stayed close to the Mavericks through the first five innings, answering back each time Missoula took a lead.

Williams worked the first 3 1/3 innings before Cody Todd came in. He pitched into the sixth before Noah Gillespie, Tanner Wolfe and Dalton Cannon threw.

But the Mavericks took control of the game in the sixth inning when Gibbs broke a 7-7 deadlock with a two-run double. A combination of walks and hits helped Missoula extend the lead to 12 runs and the game ended after six innings due to the mercy rule.

Tuesday, the Loggers took on the Kalispell Sluggers and lost 22-3.

The Sluggers scored four times in the first before Libby got one back. The Sluggers put two on the scoreboard in the second and one in the third. The Loggers scored twice in the bottom of the third to make it 7-3.

Kalispell put the game away with 11 runs in the fifth inning.

Noah Gillespie, Isaac Lamere, Tanner Wolfe, Ian Thom and Dalton Cannon threw for the Loggers.

The Loggers are down to the last week of the regular season. Thursday, they hosted Ronan, but the game ended too late to be included in today’s paper.

Sunday, the Loggers head across the border to take on Cranbrook for a doubleheader, then return home to host the Flathead As at 5 p.m. Monday. The regular season ends July 20 at the Bitterroot Red Sox.

The district tournament is set for July 25-28 in Florence.
