Gloria Rewerts

| July 12, 2024 7:00 AM

Gloria Rewerts, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on June 28, 2024, in Libby, Montana. Her life was a testament to the love she had for her family, a love that surrounded her in her final moments. She was 93 years old.

Born in Crook, Colorado, Gloria spent her early years on a dairy farm, creating fond memories with her siblings that were often shared with others. During her school days in Crook, she met her beloved husband, LaVern Rewerts.

After marrying her high school sweetheart, they started their family. While LaVern was deployed to Panama, Sharon was born. The young family was reunited in Panama when Sharon was three months old.

Upon completing his military service, Gloria and LaVern settled in Sterling, Colorado, where they welcomed their son, Rikie and daughter Shelly. Eventually, the family moved to Nebraska and later made their home in Montana, where they were blessed with seven grandchildren. Gloria's life revolved around her family and she showered each grandchild with love and affection, making each one feel special.

After Gloria raised her children, she began her career with JCPenney. She and LaVern followed LaVern’s career to North Dakota, Wyoming and then back to Montana. In each place they joined card-playing couples and the local Lutheran church. Gloria was a gifted baker renowned for her delectable pies, Kraut burgers and sugar cookies. The sugar cookie recipe is still a cherished secret. She had a passion for flowers and hummingbirds, finding joy in the simple beauty of nature.

Her children will lovingly remember her: Sharon Hannah (Bill), Rikie Rewerts (Diane), Shelly Rewerts, sister Norma Jean Plank (Bob), and brother Arlen Koehler. She is also survived by grandchildren who so loved her: Shelly and Nik (April) Rewerts, Kurt, Kyle, Kelsee Hannah, Tori Richardson (Ryan) and Trey Wanty (McCall), 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and neighbors at the golf course.

She is preceded in death by husband LaVern, sisters Wilma and Arlene, brother Kenny, and parents Amelia (Stumpf) and Reuben Koehler.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. July 22, at Prairie Peace Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, Cut Bank, Montana.
