Sandra G. Orr

Sandra G. Orr, 77, passed away from asbestos related illness Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Kootenai Health in Coeur D’ Alene, Idaho, surrounded by loved ones.

Sandy was born in Glendive, Montana on Oct. 25, 1946, to Beverly Murphy and Richard Mittlestadt. 

When she was three years old, Sandy and her mother moved to Libby. Sandy met Herb Orr in high school and the two were wed on May 29, 1965. Together they had three children - Darren, Dru and Dawn. 

Although her title of “Mom” was a major identity, her title of “Nana” was even more monumental. Holidays were a staple at the Orr house and family from near and far would come to experience it. 

Even as a homemaker most of her life, Sandy liked to get out in the workforce through the years and held various jobs including waitressing, security, childcare and warehouse work. 

Sandy had various hobbies which included camping, fishing, crocheting, gardening, reading and baking (especially her famous chocolate chip cookies!).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Beverly and Richard; son, Dru; and great-grandson, Asher. Survivors include her husband, Herb; son, Darren (Brenda) of Libby; daughter, Dawn of Libby; grandchildren Michel (Kailee), Tesla (AJ), Seth, Jacob, Cierra (Brian), Emma (Kraig), Sabrina (Josh); great-grandchildren Aquila, Kaydence, Azaura, Ezekiel, Remington, Avery, Lincoln, Benson, Krew and Rowen.

Per Sandy’s request, her celebration of life will take place at the Fred Brown Pavilion in Libby at 11 a.m. July 14, 2024.
