Cabinet Peaks Medical Center Auxiliary hosts fundraising event
The Cabinet Peaks Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary hosted a fun-filled event, A Taste of Chocolate, on Jan. 19 at the Ponderosa Room in the Memorial Events Center.
According to Christi Ellwood, about 150 people attended to help the auxiliary and enjoy some quality chocolate, prizes and community spirit while raising thousands of dollars with raffles, a silent auction and chocolate sales.
Susan Yarger was the chairwoman of the event, devoting countless hours to the planning and execution of the fundraiser. President Pam Haas, and past president Angie, and treasurer Johanna (pictured together) were among the many auxiliary members who worked for this event.
"Most, if not all, the chocolates were donated for the event from commercial kitchens in the area," Ellwood said. "Hospital chef, Tom, contributed one of the most sought-after desserts - heavenly cheesecake bites! The auxiliary wishes to thank all the generous people who donated to the event!"
Teresa Levert and Laura Ercanbrack, the emcee of the event, also helped while Helena Cassidy and Lynette Petreau were ticket sellers.
There were raffle prizes donated by each auxiliary member and auction items, including a beautiful quilt made by Angie Pankey.
The CPMC Hospital Auxiliary runs the hospital Gift Shop, directed by Dahlia Smith, and all the proceeds go to the purchase of equipment for the hospital, along with the funds from the primary fundraiser.
“It was a great event and all proceeds will go to purchase of much needed equipment for CPMC,” Ellwood said. “In the past, we have purchased bilirubin lights, heart monitors, throat scopes, special chairs for chemo and other items. Plus, every baby that is born at CPMC receives a blanket made by our auxiliary members (Peggy is chairwoman of baby blankets.)”
