Libby man faces charges of assault with a weapon and criminal mischief

A Libby man is facing charges of assault with a weapon after he allegedly threatened multiple people during a recent incident.
Justen Lane Fletcher, 44, is being held on $25,000 bail in the Lincoln County Detention Center on charges that include felony assault with a weapon and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
Fletcher appeared in court on Dec. 4 and pleaded not guilty to both charges. District Judge Matt Cuffe set Fletcher's next court hearing for Jan. 29, 2024.
The case began just after midnight on Wednesday, Nov. 8, when county officer Cody DeWitt responded to the area of Farm to Market Road and McGrade School.
According to the probable cause statement by DeWitt, he responded to a report of a hostile male walking in the middle of the road. While DeWitt was en route there was two more 911 callers who reported that a man had threatened them with a knife and num-chucks in the same area.
When DeWitt arrived, he located the man, identifying the suspect as Fletcher. Fletcher was allegedly in possession of a set of num-chucks and three large throwing knifes. Fletcher was detained and then arrested.
Based on court documents, one of the alleged victims stated that Fletcher damaged his vehicle when the man attempted to drive by him. The man also said Fletcher threatened and lunged at him during the encounter with a weapon.
A conviction on the assault with a weapon charge may result in a fine of up to $50,000 and a jail sentence of up to 20 years. Conviction on the criminal mischief may result in a maximum of six months in the county jail.
