| February 13, 2024 7:00 AM

Kenneth Neal Thompson passed away at his home in Libby on Jan. 29, 2024. He was born in Columbus, Montana on June 9, 1945, to Marion (Bud) Parker and Hilda Birkeland Parker.

They divorced soon after, and he and his older sister grew up in Livingston, MT with their mother and stepdad, Ora Thompson.

Kenny worked on the O’Hair Ranch growing up. He married Kathleen (Kathy) Anderson on Dec. 13, 1965 and left shortly after for basic training in California with the Navy Seabees. He received a class A school as a steelworker and was at the top in his class.

He then was stationed as Naval Air Station in Millington, Tennessee for a year before being deployed to Vietnam where he served for about a year. While there, he was heavily exposed to Agent Orange. The last 34 years of his life, he suffered from many complications from that exposure.

Kenny is survived by his wife Kathy of 58 years of Libby, Montana and sons Douglas Thompson of Lodge Grass, Montana; Darryl Thompson of Redmond, Washington; David Thompson (Echo) and grandson Zachary Thompson of Rockford, Washington. He is also survived by his sisters, Lucilda (Cyd) Fischer of Hemet, California, Susan Thompson of Livingston, Montana, and Verna Thompson of Rice Lake, Wisconsin; brothers Jerry Thompson of Big Timber, Montana and Lloyd Thompson of Anchorage, Alaska.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clifford Thompson and Kevin Thompson, previously of Livingston, Montana; and sister Lela Coates previously of Bozeman, Montana.
