John Brumbaugh
John Brumbaugh, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated educator, passed away on Dec. 16, 2024, at the age of 77.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a pillar of the Libby community.
He was married to his loving wife, Henriette Brumbaugh, for 52 wonderful years. Together, they raised eight children and were blessed with 25 grandchildren. John Brumbaugh cherished spending time with his family, whether it was watching them participate in sports, plays and concerts, or joining them in outdoor activities like hunting, fishing and picking huckleberries.
Born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, John Brumbaugh graduated from the University of Montana in June 1969 with a degree in elementary education. He furthered his education with a master’s degree in classroom teaching from Gonzaga University in 1977. His teaching career spanned over four decades, from 1969 to 2010, during which he inspired and educated countless students.
John was also an avid sports enthusiast. He served as a referee for football, basketball, and volleyball. He coached little league baseball, junior high basketball, volleyball and track, sharing his passion for sports with many young athletes.
John Brumbaugh leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication and inspiration. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
John Brumbaugh is survived by his wife Henriette Brumbaugh and eight children Robin (Berk) Hendricks, Lloyd (Emily) Brumbaugh, Holly (Jeremy) Thompson, Thomas (Janette) Brumbaugh, John (Liz) Brumbaugh Jr., Leslie Brumbaugh, Kelli (Mike) Duthrie) and Richard Brumbaugh. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (2056 U.S. Hwy 2 West) in Libby, Montana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the High School Football Bleachers Project organized by Libby Public Schools. When donating, please indicate “bleachers/John B.”
