Carol Tjelde

Carol Tjelde, 95, of Garrison, North Dakota passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at the CHI St. Alexius Garrison Medical Center in Garrison, North Dakota while surrounded by her loving family.

A private family service will be held Dec. 26, 2024, with burial to follow at Tjelde Family Cemetery.

Carol was born on Sept. 5, 1929, to Mary and Joe Kujawa, in Libby, Montana. She grew up with her four siblings: Ray Kujawa, Loren Kujawa, Eileen Maycumber and Marie Mares.

In 1951, Carol married the love of her life, Leif Tjelde, in Libby, Montana. Together, they built a beautiful life on a farm and ranch in Cartwright, North Dakota, where they raised their family. 

Carol worked alongside her husband, sharing a deep commitment to their land and a love for the farming and ranching lifestyle. Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She took pride in her home and family - filling their lives with her love of gardening, her passion for cooking and her talent for creating delicious meals, often shared in the fields during long farming days. 

She also loved experimenting with new recipes, delighting her family with her creations.

Carol is survived by her children Dale (Elaine) Tjelde, Carla (Dave) Faulkner, Lee (LaShell) Tjelde and Ann Renville, and daughter-in-law Patti Tjelde. She was also blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love and hard work.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Joe Kujawa; her siblings Ray Kujawa, Loren Kujawa, Eileen Maycumber and Marie Mares; her son Paul Tjelde and her husband Leif Tjelde.

Carol will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her dedication to her home and farm and the joy she brought to those around her. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. 

Rest in peace, Mom, in the fields of Heaven you so lovingly tended.
