The Libby Loggers Greenchain wrestlers claimed a 51-27 win Tuesday over their rivals from Eureka.

The Greenchain were coming off back-to-back second-place finishes at the Owen Invitational and Bob Kinney Classic tournaments.

While the win wasn’t enough to keep the Battle of the Kootenai trophy in Libby, the youthful squad was clearly happy to be at home as they entered the high school gym to AC-DC’s “Hells Bells.”

103-pounder Levi Nick opened the action with a pin in 4:27 of Eureka’s Trent Shay. At 110, Tristin Rogers followed suit with a pin in 1:16 of Mason Hickman to put Libby up 12-0.

Riley Orsborn snagged a forfeit win at 118 to make it 18-0. It was the first of four forfeit wins Libby claimed.

The Lions won the next two matches by fall. Hunter Greive pinned Bridger Bache in 4:32 at 126 and Colin Hickman stopped Darrin Denton in 2:27 at 132.

At 138, Libby’s Nick Campbell got the Greenchain back on the winning track when he decked Cadis Medicine Bull. Gabe Kosters followed with a forfeit win to give the Greenchain a 30-12 lead.

At 150, Boe Miles and Eureka’s Josh Lambertsen engaged in the most entertaining match of the night. Miles claimed a 12-9 decision as he held off a late takedown attempt by Lambertsen.

Forfeit wins by Tristan DeShazer and Hunter Rooney put the Greenchain up 45-12. Tanner Wolfe lost a 7-6 heartbreaker to Eureka’s Rogan Lytle at 175.

But Ian Thom scored a pin in 3:06 over Richie Heavy Runner to make it 51-15.

The Lions won the last two matches by fall, Daniel Lemer at 215 and Wes Banks at 285, to set the final score at 51-27.

The Greenchain will be in Kellogg, Idaho this weekend for the George Wild Tournament.
