Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter hosting special fundraiser
The Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter is holding a unique fundraiser next week to help care for its animals and build another room at its facility.
The Jordan’s Way Fundraiser will be a Facebook Live event from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 at the shelter in Eureka.
“This charity event promises fun, laughter and a bit of chaos with activities like pies in the face, the ice bucket challenge, eyebrow shaving, python cuddling and more—all to raise donations for the homeless pets in our care!” shelter Executive Director Wendy Anderson said.
Based in Safety Harbor, Florida, Kris Rotonda is the founder and CEO of Jordan’s Way. Before founding Jordan’s Way, Rotonda was a realtor and changed gears to focus more on animal welfare.
As a longtime bodybuilder, he began doing physical challenges, like pushing, pulling, and flipping a 250-pound tractor-trailer tire for 13 miles to help raise money for local shelters. After spending 72 hours in a dog cage to live like a shelter dog to raise awareness, Rotonda decided to take his show on the road and started the 50 State Tour, where he travels to shelters across the country raising money and awareness.
Anderson said the new space will provide a much-needed winter exercise area for dogs, a meet-and-greet room for potential adopters and a space to hold training classes for shelter dogs to improve their adoptability.
“We’ll also offer classes to the public, helping prevent dogs from being surrendered due to behavioral issues,” Anderson said. “By doing this, we aim to shift from reactive to proactive animal welfare in our community.”
Everyone is invited to tune in via Facebook Live on our page, Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064660181031), or join us in person at the shelter.
Businesses are also welcome to send a team to be "locked in a kennel" for a good cause, it’s a fantastic opportunity for exposure, as Jordan’s Way has nearly a million followers!
