Julius W. Robertson
Julius W. Robertson went to be with the Lord on Aug. 3, 2024.
Julius was born in Edson, Wisconsin on March 9, 1937, to Harvey and Susan Robertson.
One of his fondest memories was growing up on the farm by the Yellow River in Cadott, Wisconsin. He could just walk down the hill and fish whenever he wanted…which was often!
Julius married the love of his life Sally Danielson (Robertson) on June 3, 1960. They had been married for 64 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; four siblings; his son Ricky; and three grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Sally; children Debbie Landkammer (Chuck) of Spokane, Washington, Sandy Hosea (Bob) of Libby, Montana, Jackie Gilder (Joe) of Tioga, North Dakota, Dale Robertson of Maple Valley, Washington, and Anne Edwards (Bruce) of Post Falls, Idaho; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He joined the United States Air Force when he was 17 years old and was a member of the Air Police for four years. After leaving the military, he continued serving in a law enforcement capacity for the Racine Private Police in Racine, Wisconsin.
The family moved to Libby in 1968 and Julius always thought it was the best move they ever made! He enjoyed many years of hiking, camping, hunting and fishing. When he wasn’t enjoying the outdoors with his family he continued to follow his passion for law enforcement and served the residents of Lincoln County for 15 years. As the Chief Deputy, he was the only Montana resident selected to go to the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia (in 1983).
He also stood guard for President Ford when they dedicated the Libby Dam in 1975. Julius was an avid handgun hunter and hunted with many well-known members of the Handgun Hunters Hall of Fame.
When Julius retired from law enforcement in 1985, he invested in excavating equipment and wild land firefighting equipment. He worked on many projects around Libby and even built his own home on Swede Mountain. He also built the boat launch that many still use today at Souse Gulch.
No services will be held per his request.
Arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Libby, Montana.
