Correction

According to Robert McDonald, Energy Keepers Inc. Communications Director, the National Organization to Save Flathead Lake (NOSFL) incorrectly stated in the April 23 edition of The Western News that Energy Keepers, operators of SKQ Dam, plan to limit drawdown to ensure the lake’s level is maintained at or near full pool for the summer, as stated by NOSFL president, Carol James. James is not part of operations at Energy Keepers and while the lake should reach full pool, no promise was made to keep the lake at full pool for the summer. SKQ project outflows and the Flathead Lake elevation are dependent on many variables including lake inflows, weather, the demand for electricity, and non-power constraints such as the downstream fishery and flood risk management needs.
