Martha L. McLean passed away on Sept. 13, 2023, at the age of 91.
She was born to Albert and Myrtle Olson in December 1931. She was one of 13 children born to the couple in Bowbells, North Dakota. On her 18th birthday, she enlisted in the Women’s Army Corp and served on Okinawa during the Korean War.
She was very proud of her time in the military and supported veterans throughout her life. She soon moved to Kalispell, Montana, where she met and married George McLean. They were married for 54 years until George passed away in 2014.
The McLeans lived in Libby for 25 years. While George built many houses and businesses in the area while working for Kutz Construction, Martha volunteered for many activities including Boy Scouts, youth baseball and election board.
She also owned McLean’s Realty. After retirement, they moved to Port Angeles, Washington, for several years and later to Mission, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 11 of her siblings and her son-in-law, Bill Dickey.
She is survived by children Kathy Dickey, Dale McLean (Grace Pleasants) and David McLean (Karen). She is also survived by granddaughters Michelle Wilson (Mark), Victoria (Brian) Frost, great-granddaughters Sophia Turner and Hermione Frost.
Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Lora May Schultz, in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
Martha was a crafter and a very talented woodworker. In fact, at 90, she renewed her interest in scroll work and produced many beautiful pieces that will be cherished by her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
