Local libraries essential cornerstones for Eureka, Libby and Troy

| April 16, 2024 7:00 AM

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my strong support for the Lincoln County Library District initiative. This initiative will greatly benefit county residents of all ages.

Our local libraries are essential cornerstones for the communities of Eureka, Libby and Troy.

Our libraries provide access to a vast array of resources from books and periodicals to digital media and online learning tools. This fosters a love of reading, encourages lifelong learning and gives individuals the opportunity to pursue further education.

Our libraries are vital gathering spaces for our communities. Through a variety of programming and events, people are brought together and have the opportunity to develop a sense of connection and community. Strong libraries contribute to our communities’ overall well-being.

Libraries bridge the gap for those who lack access to technology and the internet. By providing computers, Wi-Fi access and digital literacy training, essential access to technology is available to all county residents.

As a Lincoln County educator for nearly four decades, I have seen the immeasurable impact access to the libraries has had on our children. Preschool, after school and summer programs greatly enrich children’s lives and provide safe places for them to grow and learn.

Homeschool families rely heavily on support and resources from our local libraries.

Through the digital services of the Montana Shared Catalog, I am able to order large print books for my 92-year-old mother-in-law. Having access to this service has contributed to her quality of life.

I urge everyone to support this initiative. By investing in our libraries, we are investing in the future of Lincoln County.
