Troy's Tender Lovin' Quilters hosting 101 event
Tender Lovin’ Quilters of Troy will host its annual Quilting 101 event on Saturday, April 13 at the Troy United Methodist Fellowship Hall.
This is a free event offered to all to maintain and promote the art of quilting.
The one-half hour morning demonstrations are offered with no sign up needed. Doors open at 9 a.m., welcoming guests with coffee and snacks. Quilt guild members will have a variety of their quilts on display for your enjoyment as well.
A series of short demonstrations will begin at 9:30 a.m. on numerous quilting related subjects including but not limited to Applique, paper piecing, quilt prep, scrap storage and specialty ruler and cutting demonstrations.
At 11:30 a.m. a treasure trove of quilting supplies will be offered for sale and door prizes given out. All attendees are invited to stay and enjoy a potato bar luncheon with dessert, courtesy of the Tender Lovin’ Quilt guild.
A follow up Braided Twist table runner class will be offered two weeks later on Saturday, April 27 at the same location. Those who are interested in taking the class should attend the 101 event where they will see the example of what will be made.
A nominal fee will be charged for the class and a supply list given at that time.
The Tender Lovin’ Quilters are a group of quilters from Troy dedicated to contributing to the knowledge of quilting, techniques, patterns, history and quilt making.
They strive to sponsor and support quilting activities, to encourage quilt making and collecting, and to promote the appreciation and knowledge of quilts.
As a non-profit organization, we raise money to provide quilts to fire victims, charity organizations and community heroes. We expand our community’s quilting knowledge through classes, fellowship, speakers and hands-on learning.
