George “Bill” William Schachle III

George “Bill” William Schachle III, 79, of Libby, Montana, peacefully entered eternal rest on March 26, 2024, at Logan Health Medical Center in Kalispell, Montana. 

Bill was born on June 14,1944, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to the late Sarah Virginia (Cool) and George William Schachle Jr. He was the eldest of 11 children. 

In 1951, the family moved to Pensacola, Florida where he grew up with his siblings and cousins on the S & R Egg Ranch. After graduating from Tate High School, Bill joined the U.S. Air Force, married Charlotte Sue (Wright) and fathered a son and a daughter. 

After honorably serving his country, Bill moved his family to Alaska where he worked as a heavy equipment operator and as a fuel operator for Chevron. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, camping and buggy riding in the Alaskan wilderness with his family. 

After an early retirement, Bill and family moved back to Pensacola, Florida where he purchased a new Peterbilt and became an owner/operator truck driver. Bill’s handle on the CB radio was “Banty Rooster.” 

After several years, Bill and family returned to Wasilla, Alaska where he remained until his wife’s death in 1997. Bill later remarried and moved to Libby, Montana where he lived until his passing. Bill will be remembered most for his dedication and love for his family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Charlotte Sue (Wright) Schachle of 34 years, his daughter-in-law Lori Hall Schachle, grandson James Tyler Schachle, siblings, Timothy Schachle, Paul Schachle and Virginia Druding. 

Bill is survived by his second wife, Cindy Schachle of 22 years, son, Richard Wayne Schachle of Georgia, daughter and son-in-law, Christy Renee and Gary Allyn Beaumont, Jr. of Georgia, grandchildren, William Shane Schachle of Alaska, Heather Ann Hall of Nevada, Caitlin Liana Beaumont of Georgia, Chloe Elizabeth Beaumont of Georgia, and one great-grandchild, David Malikai Schachle of Alaska. 

Bill also is survived by his siblings Vincent (Becky) Schachle of Florida, John Schachle of Florida, Pastor Anthony (Jane) Schachle of Tennessee, Susie (Wes) Conner of Florida, Donna Sanders of Florida, Charles Schachle of Florida and Joseph Schachle of Florida. 

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held in Florida at a later date.
