Steven Paul Curl

Steven Paul Curl, 80, passed away on Sept. 24, 2023, at his home in Troy, Montana.  

He had kidney failure and was on dialysis for the past five years. He was born on Feb. 4, 1943, in Mitchell, South Dakota to Frank and Louise (Jennings) Curl.

During the course of Steve’s life, he graduated high school, worked as a construction concrete finisher, was a part of the Saddle Club, Pinochle Card Club, was with the Libby Dam as a foreman and he married Peggy Ann Satterlee on Feb. 10, 1962, in Pipestone, Minnesota.

Steve Curl was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was known and loved by the Libby and Troy Montana communities. He loved horses, fishing, hunting and had a gift for finding veins of water (dousing) for many in the Troy and Libby area.

Steve never met a stranger, never forgot a face, or a concrete job that he did. He knew and loved the Lord.

Steve is preceded in death by his father Frank Curl, mother Louise Jennings and stepsister Dixie Gill.

Steve is survived by his wife Peggy Curl of Troy, Montana; daughters LaDonna Rae Splittberger (husband Dale), Dawn Michaelle Mickelson (husband Robin) and Tonya Ann Varca all of Phoenix, Arizona; brother Warner Keith Curl (wife Sharon); sister Wanda Kay Estergard (husband Mike); grandchildren Jordan Carl Anderson (wife Britteny), Tyler Cole Anderson (wife Kortnie), Chelsea Manon Sanderson (husband

Byron), Quinn Ryan Mickelson, Danielle Brooke Mickelson, and Logan Chandler Varca; great-grandchildren Ivy Rae Anderson, Olivia Sanderson and Morgan Sanderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Steve will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at the Libby Christian Church.
