County commissioners question state's property tax calculations
The Lincoln County Commissioners have joined seven other Montana counties in asking the state to identify those responsible for approving property tax increases beyond legal limits.
In a press release from the Montana Association of Counties, commissioners in Lincoln, Beaverhead, Carbon, Carter, Custer, Missoula, Park and Ravalli counties have asked that the state Department of Revenue provide the calculation limiting the state’s 95 statewide mills, as well as identification of who is responsible for authorizing property tax increases beyond the statutory limitations...
