Meet Libby City Council candidate Hugh Taylor

Name: Hugh Taylor 

Age: 52

Family: I am married to my beautiful wife Debbie. Together we have five children and four grandchildren..

Occupation: Shop Foreman at Kootenai Truck Repair.

Community involvement: I was a member of Libby Volunteer Fire Department for over a decade. I served on the Libby Police Commission. Currently on Libby City Council.

In the past year, the city has had to rebuild its staff on the police force and at the wastewater treatment plant. What would you do to prevent this type of employee turnover in the future?

Personnel issues are not under the control of the of the council. That being said, working with the city supervisor to open the lines of communication and encourage open dialogue among staff and managers. 

What will you do to make this community more livable?

Continue to work to improve and upgrade our infrastructure and promote community involvement.

Do you have any solutions for creating more affordable housing?

Try to work with local contractors and investors to encourage development.

What other issues should the city address?

We need to work on rebuilding trust between local government and the community. Be partners in the betterment of Libby.
