Cabinet Peaks Medical Center honored its emergency department nurses last week.

Oct. 8-14 marks the annual observance of ER Nurse's Week, a time dedicated to recognizing and appreciating the unwavering dedication and specialized skills of the Emergency Department (ED) staff at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center.

This initiative aims to shed light on the invaluable work done by the ED staff who are always ready to provide expert care in emergencies.

"ER Nurse's Week is a time to acknowledge the incredible contributions of our ED team," said Brenda May, ED Manager at CPMC. “Their tireless dedication and exceptional skills make them true heroes, ready to respond to any emergency situation with care and compassion.

"We invite the community to join us in celebrating our ER nurses and expressing our heartfelt gratitude to our ED crew, who stand as a beacon of hope and support during challenging times. Our dedicated Emergency Department staff are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ensuring that our patients receive the best care when they need it most."

In times of crisis, the public can rest assured that CPMC has a compassionate and highly trained ED crew in place to handle their medical emergencies, May said.

"Our ED professionals are dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care with empathy and skill. All members of our ED staff are certified in a range of life-saving techniques and protocols, ensuring that they are well-equipped to handle a diverse array of medical emergencies. These certifications include:

  • Basic Life Support: Fundamental life-saving skills to stabilize patients;
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support: Specialized training for cardiac emergencies;
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course: Expertise in managing trauma cases;
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Care: Specialized care for pediatric emergencies;
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider: Essential skills for neonatal emergencies;
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support: Expert care for critically ill pediatric patients.

"Furthermore, our ED staff is committed to continuous improvement and excellence in patient care. They undergo rigorous quarterly training to stay current with the latest advancements in healthcare and maintain their certifications," May said. "This dedication ensures that they are always at the forefront of providing the best possible care for our community."
