Autumn ecology, birding, animal tracking class Oct. 14 in Libby
Libby wildlife field researcher Brian Baxter is hosting an outdoor educational program entitled, “Autumn Ecology, Fall Birding and Animal Tracking” Saturday, Oct. 14.
It will begin at 9 a.m. Mountain Standard Time in Libby.
There will be a short classroom session, discussing the physiology of turning autumn leaves, the ecology of aspen parklands, fall birding migrations and raptor movements and the basics of animal tracking, sign recognition and interpretation.
Following this discussion, participants will head to the field to scope for birds and hunt for tracks in at least three or four different field sites of unique habitats.
The class is for adults and no children or dogs are allowed.
The event is expected to end at 3:30 p.m. All participants must register to attend. It is sponsored by Libby Base Camp Hostel.
