Libby's DeShazer named to All-State football team
Four Libby Loggers were named to the All-Western A football team.
According to information from the Daily Inter Lake, Loggers inside linebacker Jace DeShazer was a First Team pick on defense.
In 2023, he had 140 total tackles, 43 solo, with 16 stops for a loss, all while dealing with offensive game plans geared to slow him.
DeShaze recorded eight career sacks and eight hurries. He had three sacks this season. He also had the first two interceptions of his storied career in 2023 while knocking down two passes and causing a fumble.
Every player named first-team All-Western A is also All-State and because the Western A had three of the four semifinalists the league was allowed an additional four All-State picks.
Two other Loggers were selected on the defensive side of the football.
Defensive end Joel Goodman was named to the Second Team while outside linebacker Connor Benson was a Honorable Mention choice.
On offense, center Gaige Bache was a Honorable Mention pick.
In Class B, Eureka had record-setting receiver Tristan Butts and two-way lineman Wes Banks named to the All-State team with two more Lions on the all-Western B football First Team.
Besides Butts, who caught 37 passes for 1,002 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, and Banks, Eureka saw running back Caden Pecora and lineman Jonus Holm make first-team all-league in voting by Western B coaches.
Butts also was first-team at defensive back and Holm also was at linebacker.
