Stephen (Steve) Henry Bowers

| November 24, 2023 7:00 AM

Stephen (Steve) Henry Bowers, 55, of Libby, unexpectedly passed away at his home on Nov. 9, 2023.

Steve was born Dec. 23, 1967, to Sally Rahn and Leonard Bowers in Whitefish, Montana.

Following his parents’ separation, Steve was raised by Beverly Price, his second mom, and his father, Leonard, along with his five sisters: Sheila, Kerry, Laura, Tonya and Tracy. They spent most of their lives enjoying the Flathead Valley and some of it in Alaska.

Steve graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1986 and soon after, he relocated to California to build a relationship with his mother, Sally. During his time in California, he met Tina Jones and her two daughters, Serena and Heather, who he would raise as his own.

In 1994, the family relocated to Libby, Montana after a short trip in which they fell in love with the small town. Two years following their new found love for the mountains, they welcomed their son, Joshua Stephen Bowers.

Although Steve pursued other work opportunities, his dream job was during his time at the Lincoln County landfill where he worked for many years. Steve had a genuine heart and sincere personality and everyone he met was a friend. Those who knew him could always count on him for a good laugh.

Steve lived life to the fullest and loved doing things with his best friend, his Dad. He loved his children to the fullest but loved his grandchildren even more. His greatest joy and most fulfilling duty in life was being “Papa Steve.”

He will be deeply missed by everyone but especially mourned by his grandchildren with whom he held a special bond.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Leonard; mothers, Sally and Beverly; and cousin, Bill.

Steve is survived by his children Serena (Chris), Heather, and Josh (Jayden); his grandchildren Gavin, Hayden, Emmett and Rosie; his friend and the mother of his children, Tina Bowers; his sisters Sheila (Mike), Kerry, Laura, Tonya (Ben) and Tracy (Tom); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at the KW Maki Theatre, 724 Louisiana Ave, Libby, Montana.  The service will be potluck style. Please bring your favorite dish or side and help the family celebrate the life of an amazing man.
