Marion Landis, 74, of Troy, died peacefully on May 5, 2023, at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center in Libby, Montana.

Marion Hunerlage was born on Nov. 21, 1948, in Reinhausen, Germany, to Irmagard and Henrich Hunerlage.

At the age of 6, her parents left Germany. Spending time in Canada, finally arriving in New Jersey. Marion graduated high school in New Jersey and soon after met Pete Landis. They married on June 23, 1967, and soon later had two sons Kevin and Scott.

In the years following, Marion raised her kids while living in Port Murray, New Jersey. In 1991, they followed a friend over to Montana and decided to settle in Yaak, Montana. Shortly after, they built their own home near Troy on Lake Creek Road.

Upon the loss of her husband in 2005, Marion continued to live in Troy, for some time working at Troy Bowling Alley, meeting dear friend Francesca, and spending time with family until her passing.

Marion, all her life, was an exceptional cook, sewer and painter, while also enjoying her history. Marion was a great mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed hosting holidays where she could cook and have everyone enjoy her cooking. Anyone who knew Marion knew she could make a great quiche for the holidays. She also made many quilts for her loved ones over the years.

Survived by two sons, Scott and Kevin Landis, and their wives. Two granddaughters, Emily and Erin Landis. Her sister Barbara and Nephew Christopher and great friend Francesca.

She is now with the love of her life, Pete Landis.

Take a moment to remember Marion, who knew her on her birthday this year, Nov. 21.
