Gene Louis Auge
Gene Louis Auge passed away on Nov. 8, 2023, at his home in Libby, Montana surrounded by loved ones, without a hair out of place.
Gene was born on Sept. 4, 1942, in Spokane, Washington to Louis and Nora May Auge. He was raised in Libby with his brother and three younger sisters and later graduated from Libby High School in 1960.
Though he had known her since the first grade, Gene later married his high school sweetheart Darlene Nolan on June 2, 1961. Together, Gene and Darlene raised five beloved children, four sons and one daughter.
Many people will remember Gene delivering milk, house to house, owning Murph’s In & Out Drive In, and later delivering bread to local stores. Gene had a love for horses, spending many hours and miles in the mountains. He was an avid fisherman later in life, Lake Koocanusa and Lake Pend Oreille being some of his favorites to fish.
Gene had a passion for hunting. Though he never got his elusive elk, he watched many of his children and grandchildren succeed.
Gene had strong faith and was a very involved member of the Libby Christian Church. He and Darlene started the Celebrate Recovery Program here in Libby and touched many lives during their years of service.
Gene is proceeded in death by his parents Louis and Nora May Auge; brother Ronnie Auge; son Cliff Auge; and granddaughter Shawna Green. He is survived by his wife Darlene Auge; sons Jim (Pam) Auge, Duane (Leslie) Auge, Mark (Angela) Auge, daughter Margie (Jamie) Hemphill; Cliff’s wife Brenda; along with his 14 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren as well as his sisters Sherry, Merry Lynn and Alene.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 , 2023, at the Libby Christian Church.
