Charles Allen Pickering

| March 17, 2023 7:00 AM

Long-time Libby resident Charles A. (Chuck) Pickering died in Kalispell, Montana, on March 1, 2023, after a long illness.

He was born in Kalispell on April 15, 1946, the son of Allen and Alice Pickering. Chuck’s father was in the military and at one time was stationed in France.

Chuck loved to share his stories of the time he lived in France, a wonderful memory of his childhood. After his dad’s retirement, they moved to Mill Valley, California, where he attended high school and met Teresa Jane Hewitt.

After their marriage in 1970, they moved to Libby, Jane’s hometown. Chuck worked for WR Grace for 19 years, during which time they built a log home and raised two children.

Chuck loved music and was always up for a good song and dance. He had great rhythm, loved playing his drums and played with a band in Libby.

After retirement, Chuck enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren. They have great memories of the pool parties with Chuck having all the cool pool toys. Having Grandpa pull them behind the 4-wheeler or snowmobile is a memory his grandkids, nieces and nephews all have.

Chuck is survived by his ex-wife Jane, and two children, Chad (Holly) Pickering, Katie (Wood) Sherrill and his five grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by both his parents.

There will be no memorial service.
