Boltz, Stevenson, Andersen medal at state Track and Field Championships

The Libby Loggers track and field team brought home three medals from the Class A State Track and Field Championships in Laurel last weekend.

For the girls, senior Rylee Boltz capped her career with a second-place in the high jump. Her top leap of 5 feet, 3 inches was also a personal best.

Boltz has been building toward this moment after placing in the top 10 at state the last two years. She was 10th with a jump of 4-8 in 2021 and seventh in 2022 at 4-10.

Boltz narrowly missed a second medal when she placed eighth in the 400-meter run. Her time was 1:00.69.

Fellow senior Aurora Smith finished 12th in 49.22 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles. She didn’t make the finals of the 100-meter hurdles, but claimed a personal best time of 17.24 seconds.

Sophomore Bergen Fortner competed in four events.

In the long jump, she was seventh with a personal best 16 feet, 1 1/2 inch effort. In the triple jump, she placed 13th with a personal best leap of 32 feet, 10 1/2 inches.

In the hurdles, she was 13th in the preliminary of the 100-meter event in 17.54 seconds. In the 300, she was 17th in 51.53 seconds.

Senior Cy Stevenson had the best finish among the boys competitors. His shot put of 52 feet, 4 inches placed him third. He was a silver medalist in 2022 with a put of 48-9. In 2021, he was ninth (45-2 1/4).

Junior Gaige Bache placed 12th with a personal-best 45 feet, 1 1/2 inches.

Freshman Tristan Andersen competed in three events. He medaled in the high jump with a six-foot leap that placed him fifth. He was 13th in the javelin with a top throw of 153 feet, 11 inches. Andersen added a 16th place finish in the long jump at 18 feet, one-quarter inch.

Junior Maura Vazquez-Otero placed ninth in the 100-meter dash in 11.37 seconds.

Junior Greysen Thompson was 11th in the triple jump with a leap of 40 feet, 4 3/4 inches.

At the Class B Track and Field Championships at Bulldog Stadium in Butte, Troy’s three state qualifiers each competed.

Sophomore Kempton Sloan tied for 10th in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 8 inches.

Freshman Nolan Morris was 19th in the 1,600-meter run, finishing in 5:05.45.

Freshman Jaylee Meyers was 18th in the 3,200-meter run, finishing in 14:01.31.
