Playing for Fundsies sets new fundraising record

The Playing for Fundsies Golf Tournament, organized by the Cabinet Peaks Medical Center Foundation, recently concluded its 30th annual edition.

A spirited group of golfers participated in this enjoyable event, which featured various twists and turns on the course, along with new games introduced this year.

Each hole of the tournament offered games and prizes, ranging from unconventional tee-offs like hitting off a toilet or driving from a hay bale, to using a LOG putter for teeing off. Golfers could also be seen utilizing string as a substitute for putting and taking advantage of multiple mulligans throughout the day. The excitement drew a total of 31 teams to participate in the tournament.

Once again, the combination of fun and fundraising proved to be highly successful. The tournament had a record-breaking year raising over $37,000 for the Cabinet Peaks Foundation.

Donna Nicely, the Executive Director of the Foundation, expressed her delight with the tournament's outcomes, stating, "The CPMC Foundation Board is thrilled with this year's tournament results. We continuously strive to make the event unique and enjoyable. The inclusion of games doesn't slow down the players and having cash prizes available at every hole adds to the excitement on the course, resulting in more winners and more funds raised for this fantastic cause!"

At the end of the day, a total of 16 individuals and four teams were awarded cash prizes. Sixteen different winners received $50 each as hole prizes, others received special prizes such as a kayak or a Yeti cooler, just to name a few.

Contestants were only eligible to claim one prize, except for those who won the putt-offs or placed within the top four teams. In case a player won multiple prizes during the regular tournament events, they received one $50 bill and the surplus cash prize was raffled off among the remaining participants.

Nicely is grateful to all the contributors, volunteers and golfers who dedicated their time to be part of the event.

"We want to express our sincere appreciation to all the individuals who contributed to the event, as well as the volunteers and golfers who joined us for the day," Nicely said. "Each and every one of you played a crucial role in making this event a success, and we are truly grateful for your unwavering support."

Here are the top four placing teams.

Glacier Life, which included Robin Swimley, JR Rebo, Teri Berschneider and Tony Rebo, was the winner.

Placing second was the Glacier Bank team of George Mercer, Gerry Mercer, Alex Svendsbye and Eric Anderson.

In third was Dream Marine, which included Steve Fahland, Justin Fahland, Mason Gotham and Mike Willoughby.

The fourth-place foursome included Tyler Hanley, Chris Hanley, Julienne Lippe and Bill Boaz.
