Gerald “Gary” Heath
Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Gerald “Gary” Heath, passed away at the age of 86.
Gary was born to George and Blanche Heath and grew up in Libby, Montana.
He is survived by his wife, Pat, son Corey (wife Carla), daughter Tracy and four grandchildren.
Gary went to Montana State University and graduated in Civil Engineering in 1960. He worked for the Forest Service for more than 33 years in land management, balancing land and resource use with recreation and preservation. He worked on seven national forests across the northwest, concluding his career as Forest Supervisor of the Medicine Bow–Routt National Forest in Laramie, Wyoming.
Pat and Gary retired in Grand Junction, Colorado where he served as the Western Colorado Contractor’s Association Director.
He was an active member of Lions Club and lifetime member of the Elks Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, including coaching baseball, skiing, hiking and hunting.
He was a kind, light-hearted person who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. He loved spending time at his log cabin in Montana that he and his father built when he was a young man.
I hope there is a cabin waiting for him, with a walking stick, a loyal dog and a fishing rod.
