Lindsey's walk-off hit lifts Loggers over Bitterroot
The Libby Loggers American Legion baseball team have picked up a couple of wins over the last week in the midst of a four-game home stand.
The Loggers opened the home stand with Miles City. The Loggers were in a one-run game before the Mavericks tallied 10 runs to claim a 22-10 win on July 5.
Things turned around for Libby on the next day when the Loggers hammered Eureka, 16-3. Noah Gillespie worked the first three innings while the Loggers grabbed a 4-0 lead. The advantage ballooned to 11-0 when Libby scored seven runs in the fourth.
The Rangers responded with three runs, but the Loggers answered back with five runs.
Sunday, the Loggers claimed a 7-6 walk-off win over the Bitterroot Red Sox in the first game of a doubleheader.
Hunter Lindsey’s bases-loaded hit in the bottom of the seventh scored the game-winner. Lindsey also pitched in the game after Caleb Moeller worked into the fifth inning.
Aidan Rose pitched the seventh and got the win.
The Red Sox grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third inning before the Loggers halved it in the fourth. The Red Sox scored two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings before the Loggers rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the score at 6-6.
Bitterroot claimed a 15-5 win in the second game.
The Loggers wrap up their home schedule Wednesday with a doubleheader against the Glacier Twins. The first game begins at 5 p.m.
