Greenchain place two at Jug Beck; Loggers at .500 after beating Thompson Falls
The Libby Greenchain had two placewinners at last weekend’s Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic in Missoula.
Jace DeShazer was third at 205 pounds after pinning Billings West’s Solomon Stortz in 2:15.
Zekiah Meyers was eighth at 138 pounds.
Of 33 teams that competed, Libby was 21st with 58 points.
Boys basketball
The Libby Loggers boys basketball team split a pair of games last weekend in south Lincoln County hardwood action.
The Loggers fell to Whitefish, 59-44, on Friday while beating Thompson Falls, 59-51, on Saturday.
Against Whitefish in Northwest A action, the Loggers led 29-28 at halftime before the Bulldogs dominated the third quarter 14-2 to take an 11-point lead.
Four of Ryan Beagle's six 3-pointers carried the Loggers to the halftime advantage. He led all scorers with 20 points. Tyler Andersen scored 10 points.
Saturday against Thompson Falls, the Loggers led 31-24 at halftime. Tyler Andersen led Libby with 25 points while Beagle had 12.
The Loggers are 5-5 overall, 1-4 in league.
Girls basketball
For the Lady Loggers, they fell to 1-9 with a 56-25 loss to Whitefish on Friday and a 59-20 loss to Thompson Falls on Saturday.
Friday, Rylee Boltz led Libby with seven points while Kinzee Boehmler had six and Madison Vincent scored five.
Saturday, Boltz had seven points while Boehmeler had five.
For Troy, they were swept at Eureka on Saturday.
In the boys game, the Trojans got 11 points from Paxton Fisher and six from Trevor Grant.
In the girls game, Eureka won, 60-17. Izzy Tunison led the Lady Trojans with six points. Cortenie Rogers and Brooklyn Reid each scored four and Autumn Fisher had three.
