Troy grad returns to Montana Air National Guard
The Montana Air National Guard recently announced that Steph Jones has become its newest Airman at the 120th Airlift Wing.
Jones is a graduate of Troy High School and served in the Army Reserves in Missoula from 2012-2018. During his time in the Army he worked as a carpentry and masonry specialist.
“I took some time off, but decided to get back in the Montana Air
National Guard because I missed the service,” Jones said. “And with a family to support this will get us health insurance and other benefits I don’t have at my full-time job.”
Smith’s enlistment took place on Friday, Feb. 17, in Missoula.
In attendance were family members, unit members, and his recruiter,
Technical Sgt. Suzanna Gange.
“Steph is very smart and driven,” Gange said. “He has three small
kids and a wife, and to see them all there supporting him from the very beginning has been awesome to see. He’s really going to be a great asset to the team.”
Jones will be working in Air Transportation and received a $10,000
bonus for enlisting. His part-time career with the Guard will consist of working just one weekend per month plus two weeks of training per year.
