Greenchain second at Kinney; trounces Hamilton, Whitefish

The Libby Loggers Greenchain had a successful trip into southwest Montana last weekend.

Friday at the Stevensville Duals, Libby scored six pins to beat Hamilton, 36-16. Sami Jocks (120 pounds), Marley Erickson (138), Zekiah Meyers (145), Connor Benson (152), Tanner Wolfe (160) and Jace DeShazer (205) each put their respective opponents on their backs.

Against Whitefish, the Greenchain throttled the Bulldogs, 66-6.

Picking up forfeit wins were Riley Orsborn (103), Jocks (120), Darrin Denton (126), Jeremiah Thomas (132), Meyers (145), Benson (152), Wolfe (160) and DeShazer (205).

On the mat, Libby got pins from Marley Erickson (138), Ian Thom (170) and Drew Munro (182).

Saturday at the Bob Kinney Classic in Superior, Libby placed second with 165 points while putting five grapplers in the finals and crowning four champs.

Their champions included Orsborn at 103, Erickson at 138, Meyers at 145 and Jace DeShazer at 205.

120-pounder Bridger Bache was second while Jocks was third at 120 and Wolfe was third at 160. Benson was fourth at 152.

Florence won the tourney with 180 points while Superior was third with 121, Plains/Hot Springs was fourth with 117 and Corvallis was fifth with 116.

The Greenchain wrestled Thursday evening at Eureka in the Kootenai Classic. Friday and Saturday, some members competed in the Tri-State tournament at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene while others battled at the Buzz Lucey Tournament in Eureka on Saturday.

Libby hosts its first matches on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Ronan takes on Stevensville at 4 p.m. Libby then faces Stevi and Ronan.
