Libby's Malyevac wins Corvallis Invitational
The Libby High School golf teams began their seasons last week with three events.
Reece Malyevac was the boys medalist at the Corvallis Invitational that concluded at Double Arrow Golf Course on Tuesday.
Monday at Missoula Country Club, Malyevac shot a first-round 76 and traild by five strokes. Tuesday at Double Arrow, Malyevac's blistering 71 helped him erase a five-stroke deficit to Corvallis’ Brady Powell. Malyevac ended up winning by five strokes with a total of 147.
Malyevac finished second in Shelby, shooting 77. In Ronan he shot 73 to claim third place.
According to coach Dann Rohrer, a few other highlights included Ayden Montgomery's 113 at Double Arrow, Easton Peterson's 110 at Double Arrow and Teague Thompson's 107 at the Mission Mountain Tournament in Ronan.
Rohrer said Fox Hayden continues to improve his game with daily practice.
For the girls team, Rohrer said they posted some good scores, including Addison Skranak's 123 at Ronan and Lucy DeShazer's 137 at Shelby.
Libby played Monday at Meadow Lake and are set to play at Columbia Falls and Whitefish.
