Jaycee Wilson's single to center field in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted the Libby Lady Loggers softball team to a 9-8 win over Ronan Saturday afternoon.

Wilson's hit scored Mackenzie Foss for the game winner in a back-and-forth affair that saw both teams trade narrow leads in the last five-plus innings.

The Lady Loggers trailed 5-3 entering the bottom of the fifth, but three runs later they took a 6-5 lead. Madison Vincent's 2-run double capped the inning.

In the sixth, Jossalyn White's triple scored Foss and another run made it 8-5.

The Lady Loggers needed three outs to end it, but Ronan got three runs first to tie it and send the game to extra innings.

Ronan had an excellent chance to take the lead in the top of the eighth as the Maidens loaded the bases with no outs.

Head coach Brooke Soley called for Paislee MacDonald to relieve Foss. MacDonald got the first out on a little popup and the second when she fielded a ground ball and threw home for a forceout. The final out came when the Ronan coach sent the runner from third on a pitch in the dirt.

But catcher Kinzee Boehmler got the ball and tagged the runner to end the threat.

"It's the first game like this we've had and it was good to see the girls come out and fight," Soley said. "Paislee got us out of a pickle in the eighth and Jaycee has really been hitting the ball well."

Libby is back in action today, hosting Whitefish.
