Libby boys track wins own invitational
The Libby Loggers track and field team cruised to a team win last Saturday in its invitational at Logger Stadium.
The Logger boys piled up 170 points to easily outdistance runner-up Thompson Falls’ 107.5. Eureka finished third with 90.5 while Plains (61) edged Troy (60). Browning was sixth with 10.
On the girls side, the Lady Loggers were third with 112. Eureka won with 131 while Thompson Falls was second with 113. Plains was fourth with 47, Troy was fifth with 36 and Noxon was sixth with 32.
Libby competes at Columbia Falls Saturday before competing April 25 at the Top 10 meet at Missoula Big Sky.
Libby will host the Lincoln County Meet on Thursday, April 27.

The Loggers had six winners and several others placed in the top five.
Mauro Vazquez-Otero was a double winner, claiming the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
Tristan Andersen won the high jump and placed third in the javelin. He was third in the long jump and fourth in the 100 dash.
Senior Cy Stevenson returned to competition while winning the shot put with a top effort of 51 feet, 3.5 inches. The Loggers swept the top three spots and had four of the top five. Joel Goodman was second and Gaige Bache was third while David Beck was fifth.
Kasen Day had a very good day, too, placing second in the 100 and third in the 200.
Beck won the discus, Bache was fourth and Trent Riddel was fifth. Riddel won the javelin. Bache was fifth in the javelin.
In the pole vault, Carson Williams was second, followed by Gabe Hollingsworth and Greysen Thompson.
In the triple jump, Urijah Bache was fourth and Casey Rusdal was fourth.
Joel Goodman had two top five finishes. He was second in the 400 run and second in the shot put.
Rowen Sherbo was second in the 1,600-meter run and fourth in the 3,200. Thompson was fifth in the 800-meter run while Gabe Hollingsworth was third in the 1,600.
For the Lady Loggers, they cleaned up in the sprints, hurdles and most of the jumping events to secure third.
Aurora Smith, Bergen Fortner, Rylee Boltz and Annika Benner scored the bulk of the points.
Smith was a quadruple winner with triumphs in the pole vault, 100-meter dash, 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles.
Fortner won the triple jump and the 200-meter dash, was third in the 100 hurdles and fourth in the 300 hurdles.
Boltz won the high jump and the 400-meter run. She was second in the long jump
Annika Benner scored for the Lady Loggers with a third in the 3,200-meter run and fourth in the 1,600-meter run and the pole vault.
For the Troy squads, they also had some outstanding performances.
Freshman Nolan Morris won the 1,600-meter run and placed second in the 800. Teammate Marcus Hermes won the 800.
Sophomore Kempton Sloan won the triple jump and was fourth in the high jump
Gavin Bender was third in the 110-meter hurdles, Jacob Gromley was second in the discus and fourth in the shot put.
The Lady Trojans also had a number of top five finishers.
Sarah Rogers was fourth in the long jump, fifth in the 100 dash and the high jump. Cortenie Rogers was second in the triple jump, third in the long jump and fifth in the 300 hurdles.
Jaylee Meyers was third in the 800 and 1,600 runs.
Troy is back in action Saturday at the Seeley Swan meet hosted by Missoula Big Sky.
