Troy, Libby schools to host inspirational speakers
Lincoln County Unite for Youth is hosting two events this week in Troy and Libby to share information for youth, parents and school employees.
John Underwood, Director of the Human Performance Project, and John Larson, a former Navy SEAL, will attempt to connect kids and community to inspire leadership, teamwork, personal responsibility and resilience.
The duo will be in Troy on Wednesday. They will present to junior high and high school students from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and to elementary students from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Topics will include sleep, nutrition, stress and substance use on physical and emotional well-being. They will discuss mental toughness, personal responsibility and the importance of healthy relationships.
A presentation for coaches and athletes will be held at the high school from 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. One for parents and the community will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the high school auditorium.
It will offer insight about current trends affecting the health and well-being of young people, interventions and the power of parents, caregivers and caring adults committed to making a difference in the lives of kids.
Then, Underwood and Larson will give their presentations Thursday in Libby. The elementary school presentation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and the high school from 2:20 p.m. to 3:20 p.m.
A presentation for coaches and athletes will be held in the high school gym from 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. One for parents and the community will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Maki Theatre.
