"Mountain Man" star autographs rifle for benefit auction
Long-time Yaak resident Tom Oar of The History Channel's "Mountain Men" doesn't just play a good guy on TV, he's the real deal.
When Tom and his wife Nancy heard that a fellow Yaak resident, 4-year-old Ziva Fields, was diagnosed with polycythemia vera, a bone marrow disease that affects red blood cells and is often cancerous, they offered to help.
Oar autographed a Savage Axis 30-06 rifle that was donated for a raffle at a benefit to help with travel back and forth to Seattle for Ziva's treatment.
But Oar went one step further, sighting it in for the lucky winner.
The drawing will be held Saturday, April 16 at the Yaak River Tavern where there will be a benefit dinner, auction and raffle. The benefit starts at 1 p.m.
Tickets are $20 each or $35 for two.
Tickets are available at the following locations:
- Yaak River Tavern/Mercantile, through April 16 during regular business hours;
- New To You, through April 15 during regular business hours.
