Alexander Dwaine Cure

Alexander Dwaine Cure, 17, left this life to be with our Heavenly Father in a car accident, Monday, April 3, 2023, in Williston, North Dakota.

Alex arrived on January 26, 2006, in Kalispell, Montana, to Darrel and Amy Cure.

Alex started school at the Sunshine Preschool and continued at the Libby Elementary School through fifth grade. Along the way he made many good friends. Alex was liked by his teachers and the school staff.

Alex spent many summer days as a small child on his great granddad’s lap while riding the lawn mower and riding bikes around the neighborhood with his friend Kailey. He spent many hours with his grandmother and one of the most special things they shared at night was when they told each other “I love you to the moon and back”.

Alex left Libby to move to Williston when he was in sixth grade. He started his new adventure there with his mom Amy, and stepdad Scott. Alex had many interests that he shared with them.

Alex started as a young child with so much curiosity and interest in all that was going on around him.

Like all small boys, Alex was always thinking about what he was going to do with his life. He wanted to work in road construction like his mother, go to work for TCI, be a highway patrolman and possibly a mechanic.

Alex liked fishing with his family, hunting, riding dirt bikes, hanging out with family and friends, camping, working on his truck with his stepdad and helping his mom around the RV park.

Alex’s brother moved to Williston and they were able to spend quite a bit of time with each other.

Jordyn and Alex loved being goofy with each other, and of course, always giving their mother a bad time by teasing and ganging up on her.

Alex made so many good friends in such a short life. Alex stood by them and reached out to them with a helping hand, kind words and a smile. He was a tender child, with a loving heart, he was goofy, had a good sense of humor, he was loyal to his family and friends, had a real passion for life, had a smile that lit up a room and of course could be a stinker.

Alex finally found his passion and that was to be a cowboy. “So, cowboy, rope that bright star and hang on until we meet in our Heavenly Father’s paradise.”

Alex is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Willa Bowen; grandfather Harold Burrell; grandmother Bea Cure and great-great aunt Shirley Collier.

Alex is survived by his father Darrel Cure of Athol, Idaho; mother Amy Price Cure and stepfather Scott Apenhorst of Williston, North Dakota; siblings Jordyn Bollinger of Williston, North Dakota, William Cure, Taya Cure, Mason Cure and Lillie Cure all of Athol, Idaho; grandparents Martha Burrell and Gary Bowen of Libby, Montana, and Steve Cure of Monroe, Washington; aunt Brandi Cure of Monroe, Washington; uncle Tommy Price of Brigham City, Utah; great uncle and aunt Bill and Lori Bowen of Toole, Utah; nephews Mason Bollinger of Billings, Montana, and Stanley of Athol, Idaho; great-great uncle Mike Collier of Libby, Montana; many cousins, and many friends.

We will miss your laughter, your smile, your voice, your hugs, and so much more, but you’re loved and will never be forgotten.

A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Schnackenberg Funeral Home in Libby. A service for Alex will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Libby Baptist Church.

Arrangements are under the care of the Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Libby, Montana.
