Libby tennis sweeps Columbia Falls

The Libby boys and girls tennis teams enjoyed their home opener against Columbia Falls Tuesday at Rich Thompson Memorial Terrace.

Members of the boys squad each claimed straight-set victories in a 7-0 win while the girls doubles teams all won their matches, helping the Lady Loggers to a 5-2 win.

For the boys, No. 1 Ryan Beagle didn’t surrender a point to Jax Ramage in a 6-0, 6-0 triumph. Tyler Andersen followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Logan Heupel.

At No. 3, Thomas Roark beat Karson Warren, 6-4, 6-0, while No. 4 Jennings Greenfield dumped Jason Dunsbach, 6-1, 6-1.

The doubles teams also enjoyed dominating performances.

Libby’s top team of Trevor Collins and Alderic Martineau swept past Will Pickard and Silas Ypma, 6-4, 6-2. At No. 2, Zach Fantozzi and Ayden Montgomery were 6-0, 6-2 winners over Oliver McDonald and Rafe Rusche.

At No. 3 doubles, Xavier Reatz and Morgan Davis beat Sol Masters and Tiptin Tourville, 6-1, 6-0.

For the Lady Loggers, after dropping the first two singles matches, they rolled to five straight wins to claim their second win of the season.

At No. 3 singles, Lady Logger Maggie Fantozzi topped Katie Crockett, 6-2, 6-2. Marissa Hollingsworth picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win over Aliyah Arends at No. 4.

Libby’s doubles teams were dominant. The top tandem of Ellie Andreessen and Allie Thorstenson cruised past Columbia Falls’ Zoey Byrd and Crockett, 6-0, 6-1.

At No. 2 doubles, Bella Covington and Macey Halvorson were 6-0, 6-2 winners over Poppie Payne and Fiona Bryant. At No. 3, Savanah Lucas and Kayla Hoff blanked Merrick Fairchild and Maggie Day, 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 1 singles, Columbia Falls’ Cloey Ramage beat Libby’s Elaina Covington, 6-1, 6-0. At No. 2, Wildcats player Byrd had to battle to beat Libby’s Kaitlyn Canary in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

Libby is scheduled to play at Ronan today before returning home to host Whitefish at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 11.
