Lincoln County resident Josh Brothers celebrated his birthday recently by winning the Kiwanis Club of Libby and Troy rifle raffle event.

Brothers took home a Browning Winchester .300 Magnum with a Leopold scope.

The Kiwanis Club of Libby and Troy held its annual rifle raffle fundraiser to support the club’s efforts to maintain their programs for the children of Lincoln County to include such activities as the school Stand Down School Supplies, Koats for Kids, Bike Rodeo and Bicycle Safety Program, and the New Key Club efforts for high school students.

Stephanie Shaw, club president said, “This fundraiser along with other fundraisers, grants and local support are so important to keep these programs for the children of Lincoln County funded. There is never a cost or donation required from the children or their parents.”

The one in a thousand chance winner was chosen Tuesday, Aug. 23 during the monthly Kiwanis Club meeting. An employee from the Venture Inn and Restaurant, Chloe Cole was recruited as a disinterested third party to pick from up to a thousand tickets sold during the fundraiser to choose the lucky winner.

Brothers was excited beyond words to hear he had won the highly sought-after prize and adding to his joy had heard of his winnings to start a perfect birthday as well.

Brothers was overjoyed in receipt of the prize pending acceptable clearance of background check as required. No problem for this avid sportsman and father living here in Lincoln County.

“We were so excited to have this Browning rifle donated to our club by an anonymous admirer of the Kiwanis Club,” said newly elected Vice President Garrey Allen, who headed up the fundraising activities.

“It’s support from these types of people with their generosity and compassion for others that allows clubs like Kiwanis to have the opportunity to help the children of Lincoln County,” Allen said.

Allen thanked the sponsors and volunteers who suffered through the Ignite the Nites sitting in rain and 100-degree temperatures through this fundraiser event.
